Both teams battled through challenging fixtures before holding their nerve in penalty shootouts to secure victory, giving the school two titles in just two nights and creating a memorable start to the new academic year.

The girls got the celebrations underway with a series of determined performances to reach their final, recording wins of 2-1, 1-0 and 1-0 along the way. Despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat in an earlier match while playing with just five players, they showed impressive resilience to reach the decisive game.

Facing local rivals in a closely contested final, neither side could find the net during normal time, leaving the trophy to be decided from the penalty spot. Euxton Primrose Hill’s players kept their composure, scoring all four of their penalties, while their opponents missed two to hand the girls their first trophy of the academic year.

The following evening, the boys took to the pitch with the chance to match the girls’ achievement and duly delivered, also lifted the trophy.

After drawing their opening fixture and winning their second match 1-0, the boys faced a penalty shootout to progress to the semi-finals. Goalkeeper Joey proved instrumental, making two saves to help his team advance.

The boys carried that momentum into the semi-final, securing a 1-0 victory to set up a local derby for the final against another Euxton school.

In another tense match, both teams created chances but neither could break the deadlock and once again, the trophy would be decided by penalties.

Euxton Primrose Hill showed outstanding composure under pressure, converting all five of their penalties to seal the win and complete an extraordinary double for the school.

Mr Wilson, Year 2 teacher and football coach at Euxton Primrose Hill primary school said: “I genuinely cannot believe what we have accomplished — not just as two teams, but as staff, a school and a community. This achievement belongs to everyone who has supported the boys and girls throughout this journey.

“After the girls won the night before, I hoped the boys could do the same, but I never imagined it would actually happen. To see both teams show such resilience and composure under pressure has been incredible.

“These are memories that the children, staff, parents and everyone connected with Euxton Primrose Hill will treasure for years to come. I cannot thank our parents and supporters enough.

“To achieve this just six weeks into a new academic year is unbelievable. I am immensely proud of every player and everyone who helped make this possible. Two trophies in two nights — what a way to start the year!”

The back-to-back victories are a proud moment for Euxton Primrose Hill Primary School, recognising not only the talent of its young footballers but also their teamwork, determination and ability to perform under pressure.

Head teacher, Claire Jones added: “We are incredibly proud of both our boys’ and girls’ football teams, who have achieved the fantastic feat of winning both the girls’ and mixed finals. This is a tremendous achievement and a real testament to their talent, teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. They have represented Euxton Primrose Hill brilliantly, and we couldn’t be prouder of them!

“With both teams bringing home silverware so early in the school year, the double success is sure to be remembered by pupils, staff, families and the wider school community for years to come.”
