A white man, described as in his late 20s to early 30s, was seen knocking on doors across Lime Close; Chatburn Road; Lune Road; Low Moor; Brockhall Village; and Langho.

At each property, he gave different explanations as to why he was there.

At one home, he said he was there to carry out patio cleaning while handing over a leaflet.

At another, he came to apologise for making loud noises with machinery - despite no machinery being present.

Police described him as having a medium build, short blond hair, and wearing black trousers with a grey or blue zip-up jacket.

They have asked local residents to remain ‘vigilant’, and ensure that doors and windows are locked.

They have also urged anyone with information or reports of suspicious activity to contact them via the 101 non-emergency number.
