The headmaster of Preston's largest primary school was sent on his way to retirement by a crowd of friendly faces. In front of all his friends during morning assembly at St Cuthbert Mayne High School, Preston, headmaster Joseph Connelly told him: "You're off to Spain in a couple of weeks." These charity-minded ambulancemen, representing Chorley and Leyland stations, were proud to pull their weight when fund-raising, as they tugged a two-and-a-half ton ambulance 12 miles from Chorley Hospital to the Royal Preston Hospital.
