New Youth Room opens in Lostock Hall - with exciting plans for the future
“For some young people there are no adults in their lives who really know what life is like for them - and we want to help fix that, recognising that it is shared responsibility by the whole community.”
A new Youth Room has opened in Lostock Hall.
New Day Church in Ward Street were given a grant from South Ribble Borough Council to convert a room previously used as food-hub store, and now after consulting local young people and many hours of work, the room is finished.
The facility was officially launched on Saturday, October 17 by Councillor Lesley Pritchard.

“We really wanted a facility that young people could call their own and we got some great input from them at an early stage”, said Andy Prosser, one of the church youth leaders. “They chose the colour scheme, the carpet, the games and the equipment. They even helped with the decorating!”
Future plans
Launching the youth room is just the start. The idea is that the facility can be used by the local community, and the church youth team have already started to talk to local young people in Lostock Hall about how they might get involved.
Andy added: “Our plan is to launch a new activity we’re calling a Youth Café, which will provide activities such as pool, table tennis, karaoke, board games, baking, smoothie making, a tuck shop and much more.
“There will also be opportunities to talk and discuss issues that affect them. For some young people there are no adults in their lives who really know what life is like for them - and we want to help fix that, recognising that it is shared responsibility by the whole community.”
The new youth café will be introduced with a free Pizza Night on Friday, November 13 from 7.30pm. It will be for young people aged 11-18
