Doom and gloom is surrounding Deepdale after Graham Alexander saw his new side fall to another heavy defeat on the road at Wrexham on Saturday, losing 4-1.

The Preston boss has yet to pick up a point in his first three games at the helm, and he has a huge task on his hand to turn things around.

North End have just four points after 11 games, sit rock bottom of the Championship and are already effectively six points from safety due to goal difference with a near-quarter of the season already been and gone.

Jordan Storey was in a similar dire-looking position in his first season at Preston in 2018 and is confident they can 'turn the tide,' while former Lilywhite Sinclair thinks they should be able to avoid the drop as well.

Scott Sinclair gives thoughts on Graham Alexander

When asked by The Post, via Andy's Bet Club, for his verdict on Alexander's appointment and the chances of the club surviving relegation, Sinclair said: "Preston have been struggling, so I hope Graham Alexander can be the one that comes in and changes it around.

"When a new manager comes in, there's always players that don't play as much as they’d like to and others that come into the side, there is a clean slate, and it will take time to settle.”

Sinclair, who was a favourite at Preston under Alex Neil, continued: "But they do have more than enough to stay up, they just need to start getting the points on the table and working their way gradually out of danger.

"Graham Alexander is a legend there, so he will get the support he needs. That makes a big difference, but, of course, the fans will want to see the improvement fast."

There has been little sign of improvement so far, with Alexander saying he does not have 'magic dust' and it will take time for his ideas to embed in the squad.

A turnaround is needed quickly, though, and a week on the training pitch could come in handy ahead of the next game against West Brom at home on Saturday.
