Nothing quite beats the ‘90s.
The 1990s was a heady era, and few years stand out quite as much as 1994. Think the passing of Kurt Cobain, the election of Nelson Mandela, the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan incident, and the trial of OJ Simpson… as well as Preston North End’s less than glamourous foray into the old Third Division. But still, the ‘90s was an era of amazing style, music, and film, so take a look at a few snapshots of life in Preston back in 1994...

Young would-be sports stars joined in a special two-day event to promote athletics for children in Preston. The youngsters took part in the The Athletic Experience at the West View Leisure Centre. Around 350 walkers and runners set off from Broughton Club on Whittingham Lane, Broughton, to take part in a round-Preston walk, organised by the West Lancashire group of the Long Distance Walkers' Association and the Preston group of the Rambers' Association. All money raised through the sponsored walk went to the Evening Post's Magic Million Appeal and St Catherine's Hospice. Photo: RETRO
Green-fingered youngsters have created a wildlife area at St Joseph's RC Primary School in Rigby Street, Preston. A pond was created and trees and shrubs planted, and the children hoped animals would make the area their home. The project was done with the help of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.
