It was a turbulent January transfer window almost four years ago

Preston North End’s last January transfer window was eerily quiet, but the same cannot be said for 2021 - which went right down to the wire.

The Lilywhites saw nine players come through the door and 10 leave, with big hitters Ben Pearson and Ben Davies moving on. PNE’s final piece of incoming business was confirmed in the early hours, as three deadline day additions were made.

But, what are they all up to now? We take a look below...

Ben Whiteman

He has gone on to make 156 appearances for PNE, being a regular in the first team ever since his move from Doncaster Rovers. Whiteman is now club captain at Deepdale. He has found the net on 11 occasions - scoring twice against Blackpool and once against Blackburn Rovers.

Greg Cunningham

The Irishman’s time at PNE came to an end in the summer. He signed for hometown club Galway United in the summer and made 10 appearances for them, before being ruled out for the remainder of the campaign due to an injury sustained in early October.

Ched Evans

The second of three in this list, who remain at Deepdale. Evans signed a player-coach contract with North End at the end of last season. He hasn’t featured in a game this campaign due to a knee injury, but is said to be close to a return to action.

Jayson Molumby

The midfielder has made himself a regular in the West Brom team over the last few seasons, having signed for them permanently in 2022 - following a loan spell. Molumby has racked up 115 appearances for the Baggies and he’s also represented his country, Ireland, on 27 occasions.

Daniel Iversen

The shot-stopper spent time at Stoke City on loan last season, but is now back at Leicester City and not playing football. His contract with the Foxes expires in the summer of 2025, so he’ll soon be on the search for a new club.

Liam Lindsay

The big Scot has been an ever-present in Preston’s defence for the last two-and-a-half seasons, having signed permanently in the summer of 2021. He’s scored five goals in 133 appearances for the Lilywhites, and earned his first Scotland call-up last month.

Sepp van den Berg

After loan spells with Schalke and Mainz, post-Preston, the Dutchman secured a permanent move to Brentford for a reported fee of £25million. He has regularly featured for the Bees this season, mostly at right-back. Manchester City have recently been linked with a move for van den Berg.

Anthony Gordon

Gordon earned a big money move to Newcastle United in January 2023, for a reported £40million rising to £43m. The winger has 15 goals in 77 appearances for the Magpies. He has six England caps to his name too.
