What's happening as work starts to get Prom ready for the Lytham Festival and beyond
Three weeks of works will bring smart new look to popular attraction.
Lytham’s promenade is set for a bright new look.
Resurfacing works on the popular walkway alongside the town’s famous Green and the Ribble estuary have begun as part of an ongoing programme to upgrade and maintain the footpath's long-term durability.

The works, which are expected to last up to three weeks, will repair sections of the footpath that have deteriorated and now require attention.
Fylde Council, which has commissioned the works, says that during their duration, some areas will be temporarily closed to pedestrians, with signage in place to direct visitors along alternative routes.
A contractor working area is located on Lytham Green, adjacent to Bath Street Car Park.
A Fylde Council spokesperson said: “Some noise is to be expected during the removal of damaged surfaces, though the works are not anticipated to impact local businesses.
“Once complete, the improvements will enhance the appearance of the promenade, reduce safety risks and extend the lifespan of the footpath for residents and visitors alike.
“Thank you for your patience while we make these improvements.”
The works come ahead of the annual Lytham Festival, which runs this year from July 1 to 5 and will see tens of thousands of music fans flock to town to see headliners Teddy Swims, Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Pet Shop Boys and Pitbull.
When the stage is in place, parts of the footpath along the waterfront are temporarily out of bounds but the pathway running from Fairhaven to the hospital end of East Beach remains a popular thoroughfare for residents and visitors alike all year round.
The timing of the work means the footpath’s new look should be complete by the time Lytham’s annual Club Day takes place on Saturday, June 27.
