Providing a fresh update and thanking members of the public she said: “I wanted to give you all an update on how we all are over here.
“I honestly cannot believe how much love and support we have had from you all. Hundreds of messages, so many of you dropping by to drop supplies off, we are simply overwhelmed.
“As tears stream down my face I’m eternally grateful to still have us all together and that it’s just a home that needs fixing. But the terror we faced even as a police officer of 16 years dealing with so many unimaginable sights last night was horrendous.
“Thank you to all my customers and friends who have shown us such love.
“A huge thank you to other kennels and cattery’s who have also offered up any availability in case I needed to evacuate the kennels. You have no idea what that means.”

She added that repairs could take anywhere up to a year.
She said: “Tonight myself and Danielle are sleeping in a motorhome in the carpark of the kennels and the house is secure but inhabitable.
“I have managed to get the power back on in the kennels and the water thanks to Souri Crooks who came to our rescue.
“Life is going to be incredibly difficult for my family and the repairs could take anything up to a year.
“I will be keeping everything as normal going forward kennels and cattery wise now that everything is back on. An incredibly hard day for us Hoy-Durants.
