The post, which has since been deleted, read: “We wanted to share something upsetting that happened to one of our delivery drivers.

“An unpaid Just Eat order came through.

“During the delivery, he was pushed and the food was snatched from his hands.

“He's 50 years old, has worked with us for 10 years and was out doing his job to provide for his family. Nobody should have to deal with that at work.”

They added: “We know the cost of living is hitting people hard. We feel it too as a small takeaway, and we work hard to keep our prices fair.

“If you're hungry and can't afford a meal, please come into the shop and speak to us privately. We'll make you something to eat for free. There's no shame in asking for help.”

They added that from now on, they would only accept prepaid orders on Just Eat and that if anyone preferred to order directly, to call the business or visit the website.

The post further read: “If you saw what happened or have anything that could help, please message us privately.

“Thank you to everyone who supports us and treats our drivers with kindness. It means a lot to our whole team.”

Both Lalas and Lancashire Police have been approached for comment.
