Lytham jetty is snapped in two by dangerous Storm Boelo winds

Lytham Jetty was ripped in two on Sunday as Storm Boelo brought dangerously strong winds to the Fylde coast.

The damage will have a severe impact and cause major disruption for the Ribble Cruising Club, who use the jetty on a regular basis when launching boats and other watercraft.

Pictured at high tide, floating debris can be seen. The jetty has completely separated in two, and will require major works when fixed. Fylde Borough Council, who owns the jetty, has been approached for comment.

Storm Boelo caused widespread damage to the Fylde coast over the weekend. The New Philly bar in Blackpool had its roof blown off on Saturday night and many street lights and signs were bent or knocked down.

Blackpool Transport was forced to shut its tramway for most of Sunday after strong gusts damaged overhead wires, and some of the Illuminations lights- including the Open Sesame tableaux- were severely damaged in the storm.
