It's the final push - Lancashire man's gruelling cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats edges towards glory
He has been going strong for nine days.
It’s the final push today for Lancashire man John Gore who has been cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats over a gruelling nine days for a cause close to his own heart.
He has been cycling solo over 100 miles per day to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, after surviving cancer himself six years ago.

John, who is the owner of bike fitting business Ride Right in Eccleston, started his cycling challenge from Land's End last Monday.
He had a rest day at Merlin Cycles, Buckshaw Village, as they supplied the bike and continued his journey, cycling with a group for part of the journey, showing their support for this charity challenge.
John said: This year I’m taking on one of cycling’s biggest challenges: riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats, unsupported, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
“Unsupported” means carrying everything I need and relying only on what’s available along the way. Every mile, every climb, every decision, and every setback will be part of the journey. For those who aren't familiar the ride will cover over 920 miles, over 45,000ft of elevation and will take 9 days. It is not for the faint hearted!”

He added: “Cancer has touched the lives of so many people we know, and this ride is my way of doing something positive to help.
“Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go towards the incredible work Cancer Research UK does to fund life-saving research and bring us closer to a future where more people survive cancer.
“Thank you for being part of the journey.”
Fit4fe Studios have prepared his nutritional strategies, while Lucy McGhee who has Lucy McGhee Physio in Appley Bridge is on hand before, when he comes back through Lancashire, and after, to do sports massage/treatment to keep him going.
