Industrial building plan for scrapyard site & 6 other new applications in Chorley & South Ribble

Take a look at some of the more interesting plans verified this week in Chorley and South Ribble:

The redevelopment of a former scrapyard site in Chorley could enter a new stage, if plans for a new industrial building are approved.

Paul Andrews has made an application to Chorley Borough Council (CBC) for a Certificate of Lawfulness for the Green Belt site in Town Lane Industrial Estate, Charnock Richard.

The redevelopment has been underway since 2020, and Mr Andrew’s agent states that the current proposal is directly comparable to, and follows the same legal assessment as, the applicant’s previous application to erect a smaller 16.5m x 8m industrial building on the site, which was granted in 2024 but never implemented.

The newly-proposed building - comprising of two units - would be located at the northern part of the site, close to the site entrance off Town Lane and would be used by a joiners business. It would have a gross internal area of 198.49m² (2,137ft²), the footprint would be approximately 12.815m x 16.85m, the eaves would be 4.5m and the ridge height Approximately 6.7m.

The one acre site is secured by a 3m high-earth bund and 2.4m high palisade fencing, is not visible from any public highway or right of way, and is well screened by surrounding trees.

A decision will be made in coming weeks by CBC.
