He appeared in court via video link from prison where he was on remand.

Carr, 30, of Ivinson Road, Darwen, had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, and assault causing actual bodily harm.

In a Victim Personal Statement, the girl said: “He ruined my life. He’s made me cautious and not trust people. He’s made me permanently on the defensive and think people are attacking me. Then I get upset when I realise, they’re not.”

She continued: “He has never shown me any remorse about what he did and has never said sorry. I believe he will never change.

“It has taken time to get him to court and during this time I have had setbacks and got upset.”

Lorraine Widdas, investigation officer with Blackburn CID, said: “Daniel Carr behaved in a terrible way towards his victim who was vulnerable and younger than him.

“If you have been a victim of sexual offences, please report it to Lancashire Police. We will listen to you, support you, and investigate in order to put offenders before the courts.”
