A reason has not been given for the decision to close ahead of Christmas, but much loved owner Malcolm Allen, who ran Malcolm’s Musicland for over 50 years offering a friendly chat and a supportive ear to all who entered, sadly passed away in July after a decade-long battle with prostate cancer.
Hundreds attended his funeral including Sir Lindsay Hoyle who said at the time that “Chorley had lost a local icon and he will be missed by many”.
Upon hearing the news that the store had closed, many flooded the Facebook page’s comments.
One person said that “a visit to Chorley will never be the same”, while another added that Malcom was “missed every day”.
