Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a green MG TF and a black Audi Q7 at 9.55am on Sunday, January 18.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the Audi, a woman in her 40s, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police said she is currently being treated solely as a witness as part of the investigation.

The collision led to Preston Road being closed for much of the day, between Whittingham Lane and Longridge Road, while specialist officers carried out detailed enquiries at the scene.

The road has since reopened.

Detective Sergeant Matt Davidson, of Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Sadly, a young man has lost his life as a result of this collision and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

“We know that the road being closed for a significant amount of time will have affected people’s journeys, and I want to thank those affected for their patience and understanding today whilst we responded to and began our investigation into the collision.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am asking for your help by appealing for any information or footage that may assist us.”

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of Preston Road between Grimsargh and Preston between 9.45am and 10am, or from anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments before or after it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or email [email protected], quoting log 0333 of January 18, 2026.
