Free health screening event returns to Preston's University of Lancashire and you're invited
Lancastrians can access a range of free health checks and wellbeing advice from supervised student pharmacists
The University of Lancashire is inviting members of the public to take advantage of free health checks this November.
Taking place on Thursday, November 5, final-year pharmacy and bioscience students will be available on the University's Preston Campus to carry out a range of health assessments, including height and weight measurements, body mass index (BMI) calculations, blood pressure checks, cholesterol testing, blood glucose monitoring, oxygen saturation readings, visceral fat measurements and temperature checks.
School staff will be on hand throughout the day to support students and provide advice or address any health concerns raised during the checks.

The annual event, organised by the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, will run from 9am to 5pm in the Foster Social Space, Foster Building, giving students the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience while interacting with members of the local community.
From 1pm to 5pm, second-year student pharmacists will also host a health promotion event featuring information stalls on a range of topics, including healthy eating, vaccinations, smoking cessation and other aspects of healthy living.
Ann Urmston, Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy, said: "Many health conditions can develop without obvious symptoms, so taking a few minutes for a simple health check can be really valuable.
"At the same time, the event gives our students invaluable hands-on experience working with patients and applying the knowledge they've developed throughout their studies under the supervision of trained professionals.
“We hope members of the public will come along, speak to our students and make the most of this free opportunity to learn more about their health. People can be particularly vulnerable as we head into winter so this presents the ideal time to have a health MOT.”

There is no need to book for the free event.
Members of the public can simply drop in between 9am and 5pm at the Foster Social Space, Foster Building, University of Lancashire, Preston, PR1 2HE.
