Alongside the food and activities, people will also be able to speak informally with organisations providing support to households across the local area.

The Wise Group’s Heat and Be Warm team will be on hand to offer free and impartial energy advice, including help understanding energy bills, managing household energy costs and finding out about financial or other support that may be available.

The team is particularly encouraging people to seek advice during the summer rather than waiting until temperatures fall and heating bills begin to rise.

Heat and Be Warm Team Lead Heather McKirdy said: “Getting support early can give households more time to understand their energy use, make changes to reduce costs and explore any assistance for which they may be eligible before the colder months arrive.

“This event is a great, free opportunity for people of all ages in the Tanterton area to come together for fun, food and advice to improve their situations.”

Representatives from Lancashire Carers, Lancashire Family and Carer Services and United Utilities will also be attending, giving residents an opportunity to find out about a wider range of help available locally.

The event is intended to provide a relaxed environment where people can enjoy lunch, bring their families and have an informal conversation about any support they might need. The Tanterton Community Lunch &Energy Support event takes place on Thursday, August 27, from 11am to 2pm at Tanterton Village Centre, Tanterton, Preston PR2 7BX.

Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book – simply turn up on the day.
