Young fundraiser takes on 100km cancer research challenge

I’m Martha, a local from Lancashire and I’m taking on the challenge of running 100 km in 35 days to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

I’m doing this because cancer has affected people close to me. A family friend, Sarah, sadly passed away from cancer two years ago, and there are also people we know who are currently fighting the disease. Running 100 km will be a challenge, but every kilometre is for those we’ve lost, those still battling cancer, and the families and friends supporting them.

I’m already well on my way to reaching my fundraising target, having raised almost £700.

I’ve been sharing my progress along the way on Strava at Martha McGee and my fundraising page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/marthasuportingcancer and it’s been amazing to see people getting behind me and donating. Reaching almost £700 has been incredible, and I’m hoping to continue raising even more as I finish the challenge.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps Cancer Research UK fund research that could lead to better ways of preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

I’m really proud of how far I’ve come so far, and I can’t wait to complete the 100km!
