I survived Storm Boelo unscathed - but my car is a write off
While unscathed physically, mentally she is very shaken up.
If the branches had not stopped on my car’s dashboard - I wouldn’t be here to tell the story.
This is what replays over and over in 20-year-old Lucy Page’s mind when she recalls a near miss yesterday while travelling to work in the grip of Storm Boelo when a tree fell on top of her car.

Lucy, who lives in Coppull, was travelling to her part-time job as a restaurant supervisor at Home in Buckshaw Village when tree branches fell onto her blue Fiat Punto Evo on New Road in Coppull, across from Birkacre Garden Centre.

The year two law student at Leeds University said: “I was travelling to work around 9.45am and had stopped at the temporary traffic lights with a car in front of me.
“As soon as the lights turned green I went to go and a tree fell on top of me.
“I was in shock as I put my hazard lights on without thinking as people will see the tree on top of my car.”
Thankfully, kindness showed up in the car behind as a male driver rushed to check Lucy was okay.
She added: “The man behind me thankfully got me out of the car and let me sit in his car with his wife and child.
“I didn’t get his name, but I would describe him as white, being in his mid to late 30s with brown hair.
“If he is reading this, I would really like to thank him and the workmen who were also amazing.
“I don’t have any physical injuries but I am very shaken up.
“I am lucky to be alive.
“My car is a write off - the roof and bonnet was damaged and the windscreen was put in by it.”

Police and a tree surgeon were next on the scene, with her car of three years being cut free from the wreckage after 30 minutes.
However, Lucy was then informed that the car was a write off and that her insurance company would not be providing her with a replacement car.

Lucy said: “The only issue is with my insurance who have refused to give me a replacement car because it’s a write off but I am hoping they will sort this as I cannot control the weather.
“I’m now just stuck because I can’t get to uni with the trains cancelled with the wind and I’ve no way of getting to work and hire cars won’t allow me because I’m under 25.
“If the branches had not stopped on my car’s dashboard - they would have went through me.”
