She will be at the Tokyo Marathon later this month, not only ticking off another race on her quest, but aiming to £5,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Wood has already finished marathons in London and New York, and will be running in Tokyo in memory of two friends

The Bridlington Road Runners member said: “I am dedicated the Tokyo marathon to my childhood friend Thomas Keeping, who sadly lost the battle to cancer in October 2015. Also to Stephen Phelps, who also sadly lost his battle to cancer earlier this month.

“I am aiming to raise £5,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust, by next September, when hopefully I will have completed the world majors.

“In 2011, I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening of the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Castle Hill, and was amazed by the unit and staff, I wanted to play my part in helping teenagers who are suffering from the horrible disease.”

After Tokyo, where she hopes to beat her previous best time of 3:24, Wood will need to run in Boston, Berlin and Chicago to complete her challenge.
