Sunderland teenager makes loan move to Morecambe

Morecambe add to their attacking options as forward makes loan move.

Marcus Neill has become the latest new face at Morecambe after joining on a 28-day loan from Sunderland.

The 18-year-old attacker arrives from the Black Cats’ academy, where he has progressed through the youth ranks since joining from Liverpool in 2024.

Neill has also featured for Sunderland’s Under-21 side, gaining experience in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

An Australian youth international, Neill has established himself as a promising attacking talent.

He enjoyed a prolific 2025/26 campaign, recording 16 goals and seven assists in 30 appearances for Sunderland’s Under-18s across competitions.

Confirming the departure, Sunderland said: “Sunderland AFC can confirm that Marcus Neill has joined Morecambe on a one-month loan.

“The 18-year-old, who signed his first professional contract in the summer, joins the National League North side until November 19. Best of luck, Marcus!”

Neill becomes the second youngster to join Morecambe on loan in the last week after the signing of Luca Davis from Everton.

Heading out, however, is Adam Fairclough who has departed the Halo Aerospace and joined Workington AFC on loan; again on a 28-day basis.
