One man crime spree jailed for 7 years for burglaries in Lancaster
Shane Brady, 25, of no fixed address, was sentenced to seven years and 73 days imprisonment for carrying out a series of burglaries in Lancaster
A man who went on a burglary spree in Lancaster has been jailed for more than seven years.
Shane Brady broke into several houses in the Scotforth area of the city between July 2 and 24th, this year.
All the homes he targeted were within a short distance of an address where Brady regularly visited and sometimes stayed.
Cash, laptops, electrical goods, games consoles, mobile phones and jewellery were among the items stole in the burglaries which Brady carried out late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
Brady was arrested by Lancashire Police officers on July 25, having been recalled to prison.
There were no reports of residential burglaries in the Scotforth area or the wider area of south Lancaster in the weeks that followed.
He was interviewed and charged in September having been produced from prison.
Brady, 25, of no fixed address, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to five offences of burglary.
He was sentenced to seven years and 73 days imprisonment.
Detective Constable Jonathan Marshall of Lancaster CID’s Residential Burglary Team, said: “Shane Brady carried out several burglaries in an area of Lancaster in a short space of time.
“Dwelling house burglaries cause misery and fear to householders who are left feeling unsafe in their own homes.
“I welcome the lengthy sentence which the judge passed, and I hope it gives Brady’s victims some sense of justice.
“If you have been the victim of burglary, please report it to us and Lancashire Police will thoroughly investigate in order to try and put offenders before the courts.”
