Morecambe's weekend display was their most 'complete' performance so far
Morecambe made it 12 points from the last 15 with victory on Saturday.
Adam Lakeland felt his Morecambe players’ 3-0 victory over Brackley Town on Saturday was their ‘most complete’ 90 minutes of the season so far, writes DEREK QUINN.
Goals from Elliot Newby and Will Smith, either side of an own goal from Josh Tomlinson, saw the Shrimps bounce back from defeat at Southport in midweek.
It was also Morecambe’s fourth win from five National League North games, in a match where they were rarely troubled.
Lakeland said: “I thought we controlled pretty much the entire match.
“Scoring the first goal in any game is important and to score just before the break like we did was really helpful.
“The message at half-time was to maintain our control while looking to get a second goal.
“We did that really quickly after the restart, with a helping hand from one of their lads, and that settled everyone down.
“From thereon in it was great to get the third and there were one or two moments where we could have got a fourth to cap things off.
“The way we performed and controlled that game, while scoring three goals and keeping a clean sheet made it, for me, our most complete 90-minute performance of the season.
“Brackley did look to frustrate us and were well organised so, for us, it was about staying calm, being patient and capitalising on the chances when they do come and we did that.”
