The 23-year-old midfielder has left the Shrimps after one season with the club, moving to Brunton Park for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a two-year contract.

Azeez, who had been one of the players under contract with Morecambe, had previously been linked with a move to Carlisle earlier in the year amid the Shrimps’ unsuccessful relegation fight.

A former Arsenal youngster, who made one Europa League appearance for the senior team, Azeez was one of last summer’s clutch of signings after Panjab Warriors’ belated takeover of the Shrimps.

He arrived at the club on the back of loan moves at Portsmouth, UD Ibiza and Wigan Athletic, as well as spells with Atletico Baleares and PAS Giannina.

Azeez, who scored six goals in 44 league and cup games for Morecambe, told Carlisle’s website: “I really can’t wait to get started and I feel like it’s going to be a good season for all of us.

“When I first heard about the interest, I was really happy that a club with that magnitude could be interested in me.”

He will be joined by another former Shrimp after it was confirmed goalkeeper Archie Mair would join Carlisle on a permanent basis.

The 25-year-old has signed a one-year contract, having joined Carlisle on loan from Morecambe in January.

Having initially moved to the Shrimps on loan from Norwich City in January 2024, Mair was one of eight signings in two days last August prior to the opening game of the season.

However, after playing the opening 12 league games, he lost his place to Jamal Blackman and only featured once more in January’s FA Trophy defeat at Kidderminster Harriers.

He moved to Carlisle days later, making his only start on the final day of the season, before Morecambe’s retained list confirmed Mair would be one of multiple departures from the club.

Mair also told Carlisle’s website: “I’m delighted. I really enjoyed my five or six months here from January onwards.

“From day one, I enjoyed the club as a whole. You can see the direction it’s going in and it feels like it’s trending the right way, so I’m really pleased to be back.”
