League's big night salutes prize guys

The Preston and District Veterans' Snooker League brought another successful season to a close at Ashton Bowling Club.

That was the venue for the Richard Smith Knockout Cup was played, followed by League presentations to all the successful clubs.

In the final, Second Division outfit Hoole Village Hall faced Division One side, Elite Snooker, who with five winners ran out victors.

In the presentation that followed, New Longton Bowling Club took the major honours with the A team winning the First Division championship and the B team the Second Division, and promotion.

In the Handicap competitions, St Edwards won Division One and Fulwood Red Division Two. The competition for the Chairman’s Shield was won by St Anthony’s A.
