AFC Fylde midfielder to continue his development with Lancaster City loan move
New face could make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round tie.
Lancaster City have signed AFC Fylde midfielder Ben Jackson on an initial month’s loan.
The deal was confirmed on Thursday, with the youngster joining a Dolly Blues team sitting 16th in the NPL Premier.
However, they take a break from league action over the next two weekends with Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round tie at Bradford (Park Avenue) followed by an FA Trophy third qualifying round trip to Cleethorpes Town on September 26.
Jackson, who will be available for selection at Bradford (Park Avenue), has come through the youth ranks at Mill Farm.
He played a key role as their Under-18s won a league and cup treble, as well as featuring twice for the senior team under head coach Craig Mahon.
Jackson made a late debut off the bench in February’s 3-0 win over Alfreton Town and another substitute appearance in their August Bank Holiday victory at Solihull Moors.
His progress was also rewarded with a first professional contract in early August, about which he said: “I’m delighted to have got what I set out to achieve when I joined Fylde.
“Craig’s always been really involved and invested within the academy, whether it’s taking sessions or wanting to bring scholars through to the first team.
“I was buzzing to make my debut last season and pre-season has been a really good challenge which I’ve enjoyed.”
