PNE landed Parrott on a season long loan deal on Monday, joining from parent side Tottenham Hotspur after spending pre-season with Antonio Conte’s side.

He has experience in the second tier before, spending time with Millwall in 2020 before the move was cut short in January.

He starred for MK Dons last season in League One but is ready to test himself back in the Championship after deciding on Deepdale to be his new home.

He said: “It's good to have a week building up to the first game - I'm ready.

"I was in the Championship before and it didn't go the way that I wanted to the last time.

"It was all a learning experience and I can take stuff that went on back then into this season and do better. It's 100 per cent motivated me.

"I could have stayed at Tottenham or gone back to League One but I wanted to push myself and go up another level, and do what I did last season again.

"There was other interest in the Championship and I spoke to some other clubs but I don't want to go into that. I'm here, I'm at Preston and that is where my head is at now.”

The 20-year-old admits he didn’t know much about the club before joining, though he did call on Republic of Ireland teammates Alan Browne and Robbie Brady to fill him in.

Moving from the captial to the North West is no bother for North End’s new no.15.

He said: "I value the opinion of everyone that is around me and everyone that I've spoken to. That's what's brought me here.

"Where I have to move to or where I have to go doesn't affect any decision that I make. It's just about doing what's best for me.

"It can never be a bad thing, moving. I'm from Ireland so it's not like I've left home, I moved at the age of 15 so it doesn't affect me.

"I've also got my family with me in England now which helps me a lot, I'm not going home to an empty house. Taking care of the off field stuff helps me massively.”
