The Lilywhites will face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, 18 July - no kick-off time has been given for the contest at the Owls’ training ground. PNE had already announced friendlies against Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Cambridge United (in Spain) and Stockport County.

Last summer, Paul Heckingbottom’s side contested seven pre-season fixtures. Two of those were Brig and Chorley; another was the contest against Getafe in Spain. There has not yet been any game against top flight opposition confirmed.

Preston typically return for the start of pre-season on July 1. There is a vacancy for a match on Saturday, 11 July as things stand, along with scope for a midweek encounter the week commencing July 6.

As has already been communicated, the Lilywhites will not play a friendly at Deepdale this summer due to a new pitch being installed.

It’s thought North End have requested their first league game of next season to be away, but the campaign will kick off with the first round of the Carabao Cup (August 7-9).
