The Lilywhites go into the final round of fixtures sitting 12th, aiming to finish on a high after last weekend’s win at Sheffield United. Meanwhile, Saints know victory at Deepdale could take them as high as third.

It’s three changes for the hosts while Southampton boss Tonda Eckert makes four. Andrew Hughes, Brad Potts and Ben Whiteman come into the side with Pol Valentin, Thierry Small and Jordan Thompson dropping to the bench.

Elsewhere in the division, Ipswich, Millwall and Middlesbrough are in the race for the last automatic promotion spot. Relegation is already sorted but the last play-off place is open to one of Wrexham, Hull City or Norwich City.
