Preston North End have had plenty of success in the loan market over recent seasons, but how does their permanent recruitment compare?
The Lilywhites spent a reported fee in excess of £1.5million to land Plymouth Arygle defender Lewis Gibson last week - the centre-back is manager Paul Heckingbottom’s first permanent recruit and he could debut this weekend at Deepdale.
Going back to the summer of 2019, a total of 28 players have signed for PNE on permanent deals. Some have been first team regulars for the duration of their North End careers, others have been up and down while a handful never really got going at all.
Here’s how we rate every one of those acquisitions...

9. Josh Onomah - 2
The former Fulham and Tottenham man's ability was clear in those handful of games he played. Contract negotiations in the summer collapsed and that was the last of him at PNE. | CameraSport - Alex Dodd

10. Dai Cornell - 5
Cornell was signed to be back-up between the sticks. He hasn't done too badly across the six appearances made. A popular figure around the place and decent pro. | CameraSport - Andrew Kearns

11. Robbie Brady - 5.5
Brady had a tough first season at PNE but improved the following year and has since shown his quality more often. Now aiming to get back from a cracked rib injury and contribute for the second half of the campaign. The left wing-back role hasn't suited him at times. | CameraSport - Richard Martin-Rob

12. Ben Woodburn - 4
Woodburn featured sporadically for a couple of seasons and scored that memorable goal at Blackburn Rovers. He wasn't able to really nail down a place or regularly impact games. | Getty Images
