The Lilywhites have endured a frustrating few weeks in pursuit of additions to Paul Heckingbottom’s squad at Deepdale. However, it’s believed PNE are close to finally bolstering the manager’s attacking department. As first reported on Wednesday evening, a deal for an overseas forward on loan is thought to be imminent.

Following that news, reports surfaced from L’Equipe in France that Strasbourg front man Milos Lukovic is set to be recalled from Las Palmas and sent on loan to PNE. Signed for a reported €5m in January 2024, the 20-year-old Serbian scored four goals in 17 appearances for Las Palmas.

Lukovic has made two appearances for Strasbourg’s first team and spent time on loan at Dutch outfit Heerenveen last season. He was signed by the Ligue 1 club from Serbian club FK IMT, for whom he scored 38 goals in 88 games. Lukovic is under contract at Strasbourg until the summer of 2028.

PNE have enquired about several strikers in the last fortnight with links to domestic duo Callum Lang and Davis Keillor-Dunn. A £1.5million bid was reportedly rejected by Portsmouth for the former. There has been speculation around an offer being on the table for Barnsley’s Keillor-Dunn, but the Lancashire Post is not aware of such.
