Preston North End boss Paul Heckingbottom is searching for the right formula.
The Lilywhites have won one of their last 12 games and dropped to 17th in the table, with four consecutive defeats suffered. Friday night represents the next opportunity for PNE to return to winning ways, as Stoke City make the trip to Deepdale.
Heckingbottom made four changes at Norwich City last weekend and it would be little surprise to see multiple, this evening. Preston will remain without Callum Lang, Ali McCann and Lewis Gibson.
Here is our predicted North End XI to start the match...

5. RWB: Pol Valentin
His performance against Sorba Thomas was praised in the reverse fixture. Will probably get the nod, here. | CameraSport - Richard Martin-Roberts

6. CM: Ben Whiteman
He has been a consistent figure in the side all season. | CameraSport - Rich Linley

7. CM: Alfie Devine
With McCann out, it might be time to try the loan man in a deeper role. North End haven't been scoring enough goals and he could offer more creativity from those areas. | CameraSport - Shaun Brooks

8. LWB: Thierry Small
Stoke have some powerful, dangerous players down that side and Small could be useful in matching them - while offering an attacking threat of his own. | CameraSport - Rich Linley
