Preston North End midfielder receives international call-up for UEFA Nations League clashes
The international break starts next week.
Preston North End midfielder Jordan Thompson has been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League games.

Thompson could feature four times for his nation in an extended international break. The Green and White Army take on Georgia twice, either side of games against Hungary and Ukraine.
Northern Ireland, managed by former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill. are in Group 2 of Pool B of the Nations League. They travel to Georgia on September 25, before hosting Hungary on September 28. They take on Ukraine in Slovakia on October 2, then welcome Georgia to Belfast for the reverse fixture three days later.
The 29-year-old has made 39 appearances for Northern Ireland over the last eight years. He last played for his country in March 2025 against Sweden in a friendly.
Thompson has impressed so far this season for North End, starting all but one of their competitive games. He came off the bench against Wolves and scored in the final moments of a 3-1 defeat.
He wore the captain’s armband on Saturday for their game against Lincoln City, in the absence of Ali McCann and Lewis Gibson through injury.
