The Blues have strengthened significantly this summer, following relegation to League One. And, it’s now reported that Davies is closing in on a move to St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park. Davies, 29, has made three appearances for Rangers so far this season, but is said to be down the pecking order. The centre-back turned out 17 times across all competitions, last campaign.

Birmingham are said to be pushing for a loan deal, with option-to-buy next summer. The hope is that a deal can ‘be finalised in the next 24 hours’. Davies is under contract at Ibrox until 2026. He came through the youth ranks at Preston, and really broke on to the first team scene in 2017/18. Davies established himself as a key player at Deepdale, making 145 appearances and scoring a couple of goals.

In 2021, he made an incredible move to Liverpool - who were searching desperately for defensive reinforcements at the time. Davies never played a competitive game for the Reds, and spent time on loan at Sheffield United in 2021/22. He eventually left Anfield in the summer of 2022, signing for Rangers in a deal worth up to £4million. Since then, he has racked up 56 appearances and scored once.
