Maxime Colin scored the only goal of the game in the first half as North End wasted chances once again.
Here’s how we rated the players on the day…
9. Robbie Brady - 6
Was clearly North End's main creative force in the game but it became a tired attempt by the end of the game. Quality of delivery was there in places but needs help as it's a lot to do on his own. Let his man go to score the only goal of the game. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
10. Emil Riis - 5
Strikers are judged on goals and taking their chances and Riis had more than enough to be on the scoresheet on Saturday. Went through one on one with plenty of time to sort out the chance for himself and hit it straight at the 'keeper - a big moment in the game. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
11. Troy Parrott - 5
Just like his strike partner he will be judged on his goals and so far he has had more than enough to open his account in the league. Now 18 Championship games without a goal across two spells - seemed a bit confused at times in his play on Saturday. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
12. Alvaro Fernandez - 6
Didn't really get into the rhythm of the game as Birmingham were managing it well. There is clear intent and energy from the Spaniard when he came on, there was just not quality or joined up play for him to get involved in. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
