Maxime Colin scored the only goal of the game in the first half as North End wasted chances once again.
Here’s how we rated the players on the day…
13. Ched Evans - 6
Couldn't get into the game, can be tough to get up to the pace with only 15 minutes to do it. Birmingham's defenders had been used to dealing with crosses all afternoon so were ready when the Welshman was introduced. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
14. Mikey O'Neill - 6
Got less than 10 minutes at the end and could not get up to speed, tough enough for a senior pro, never mind one that has played in four league games now. Photo: CameraSport - Paul Greenwood
15. Ryan Ledson - 6
Couldn't get going in the nine minutes he was given to make an impact, especially with Birmingham looking to see out their lead. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
16. Daniel Johnson - 6
One that could have been introduced sooner given his ability to find a killer pass but could do nothing with a cameo appearance at the end. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth
