The Shrimps created a number of chances to hit the home team, largely on the counter-attack, but their failure to find the back of the net was vital.

“As a unit, and as a team, we performed well.

“We allowed the centre-halves to pass it between themselves, we nullified the space and we probably should have scored a few goals.

“Carlos Mendes-Gomes had a chance in the first half and there were opportunities for Yann Songo’o, Aaron Wildig and Brad Lyons before they scored with an own goal, which was really unfortunate, and they scored a second as we pushed people forward.

“The fact we didn’t take our opportunities when they came along was the reason we didn’t get anything from the game.”
