Magpies looking to build on big win when they travel to King's Lynn

Chorley head into this weekend’ s long journey to face King’s Lynn Town looking to maintain momentum after a turbulent start to the new National League North campaign, writes Nazira Yusuf.

With three wins, three defeats, and two draws on the board from their opening eight fixtures, Preece’s men have experienced a mixed beginning to the season.

The three losses which the Magpies have suffered have been all against teams who currently occupy spots in the play-offs.

Despite the ups and downs, Preece admitted the squad is tracking positively despite the difficulty of the division.

“I’m pleased with the start we’ve had,” he told the Lancashire Post. “We can only concentrate on ourselves.

"And I think we’ve had a decent start because I feel like we’ve had a pretty difficult run of games to start the season.”

Paul Caddis’ King’s Lynn come into this fixture following a busy, hard-fought sequence of matches including a recent narrow 3-2 defeat against Hednesford Town in midweek, although they are separated from the Lancashire visitors by just a single point in the league standings.

Preece added: “We’ve had many battles over the last few years. It’s an important game for both teams because probably whoever wins or probably finds themselves either near or just under the play-off places, which would be a great position to be in.”
