Adam Lakeland: Morecambe players have shown they are up for the challenge
Morecambe look to continue their fine home form this weekend.
Adam Lakeland believes Morecambe are getting used to life in National League North as they look to extend their winning run at home on Saturday.
The Shrimps can make it seven straight victories in all competitions at the Halo Aerospace Stadium if they defeat Scarborough Athletic.
Success number six came with Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Darlington; the first time Morecambe had strung together half-a-dozen home wins at their current ground.
After a difficult start to the season, with one point from the first four matches, the Shrimps have taken 19 points from the last 27 on offer.
It is a run which has lifted them into the top 10 in National League North as they meet a Scarborough team in 19th after one league victory in their last eight.
“It’ll be another tough game,” the Morecambe boss said after Tuesday’s game.
“I know this division like the back of my hand and Scarborough are a good team.
“They’ve always got energy, they always play good football, they’re brave, they’ve got some good individual players.
“They generally score goals and create chances, so it’s going to be a difficult game and we have to be ready.
“Every game in this league is difficult, I said it from day one.
“Maybe in those opening games, it was a case of us learning the hard way.
“I feel, as a group and potentially as a football club, we’re maybe coming to terms with this is a hard division and if we’re going to give ourselves a chance of getting out of it, we’re going to have to fight tooth and nail every minute of every day and every game to get results.
“The players have shown, in the last couple of games in particular, that they’re bang up for it and hopefully we’ll get the same on Saturday.”
