37. Just champion... thatâs the Broughton High School gymnastic squads. Pictured here is the victorious under 16s squad, who won their section, and the under 14s, who finished fourth in the Preston Schools Championships. Their combined marks were enough to give them the overall championship.

38. Les Dawson and Billy Dainty get in the right spirit at the start of the celebrity match at Fairhaven Golf Club, watched by other competitors including Preston comedian Walter Horam and one of the Bachelors. The tournament was sponsored by Les and was in aid of the Artists' Benevloent Fund
