We’ve been through our archives and found pictures of a number hostelries that have disappeared from the Preston landscape over the years – some have been demolished, many turned into flats – but they will always live on in our memories. Sadly, there are certainly nowhere near the amount of pubs as there was years back.

21. Lost Pubs
The Withy Trees pub in Fulwood closed in 2019. Currently it is awaiting redevelopment into a prayer and education centre by The Noorami Education Trust | National World

22. Preston Pubs
The Bridge Inn at Penwortham was a popular pub, especially among those out walking. But that wasn't enough to save it and it closed in 2011 and was converted into a children's day nursery | National World

23. Lost Pubs
The Doctor Syntax is a pub close to my own heart. When I was a child my dad was the landlord and I lived there. I remember one day he forgot his keys and we had to break in at the side door! It was so exciting. This boozer closed to the public in 2009 and was converted into a Chinese restaurant | National World

24. Lost Pubs
This one may not be so vivid in many people's eyes - it's The Waterloo on Friargate. It was closed down in 1984 and converted into a shop | National World
