We’ve been through our archives and found pictures of a number hostelries that have disappeared from the Preston landscape over the years – some have been demolished, many turned into flats – but they will always live on in our memories. Sadly, there are certainly nowhere near the amount of pubs as there was years back.

17. Lost Pubs
One of two pubs popular with the football crowds, The Royal Garrison, or Garrison as it was also known, shut its doors in 2012. In close proximity to Fulwood Barracks, it was also a regular haunt of soldiers from the army base. It is currently standing empty awaiting redevelopment | National World

18. Lost Pubs
The old Red Lion pub on Church Street was one of three coaching inns found in the town centre. The nightclub Popworld now occupies the building | National World

19. Lost Pubs
Another one situated on Friargate - The Boar's Head was opposite where McDonald's is now. It closed its doors in 1983 and is now Ladbrokes betting shop. There was also an upstairs bar at the Boar's Head called the Murrayfield Lounge | National World
