What the weather will be like in Lancashire on Christmas Day and Boxing Day

Lancashire is set to enjoy a largely dry and bright Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with chilly temperatures but plenty of sunshine forecast across the county.

According to the Met Office, high pressure will dominate through the festive period, bringing settled conditions and a welcome break from wet weather.

While there is a very small chance of isolated light showers, particularly near coastal areas later in the day, the likelihood of rain remains below five per cent.

Brisk easterly winds may make it feel colder, especially in exposed areas.

Boxing Day

Boxing Day is expected to follow a similar pattern, with plenty of sunshine and dry conditions continuing across Lancashire.

Temperatures are forecast to peak at around 7C, with overnight lows of approximately 4C.

Rain chances remain low throughout the day, again at less than five per cent, making conditions favourable for travel, walks and outdoor plans.

Looking ahead

The Met Office says the settled spell is likely to continue beyond Boxing Day, with high pressure remaining close to the UK.

This could bring further cold nights, with frost and patches of fog developing in some areas.

People planning journeys over the festive period are advised to keep an eye on the latest forecasts, particularly during the early mornings when icy conditions may develop.
