Emergency services were called after a baby was found unresponsive at an address in Garsdale Road, Ribbleton, at around 12.18pm on Wednesday (August 3).
The five-month-old baby boy was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he sadly died later in the day.
Police said his death was being treated as “unexplained” and enquiries were ongoing.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time,” a spokesman for the force added.
