With the Met Office today showing light rain and highs of 16 degrees in Preston, Electricity North West teams can now survey the full extent of the storm damage.

They showed some pictures of what they were called out to deal with on site to get power back on as hundreds of homes across Lancashire are still without power.

A spokesperson for the team said at the weekend: “We're responding to Storm Boelo but strong winds mean it's currently unsafe for our teams to climb and repair overhead lines.

“We have set the expected restoration time to 6pm on Tuesday (27 Oct). This is following customer feedback on wanting to know the 'worst case scenario'.

“As soon as the wind drops enough to allow engineers to climb, they will be repairing the network as quickly and safely as possible and restoration times will be updated.

“We're focusing on remotely switching affected supplies to other parts of the network to restore as many properties as we can until it is safe for our teams to climb and make physical repairs.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

They added: “If you see damaged lines, call us immediately and make sure you stay at least five meters clear. If there is a danger to life call 999.

“If you have a business near a location affected by power cuts and can offer hot food, drinks, phone charging or a warm space, please email us at [email protected] and we will review the most suitable locations. Thank you.”
