The Met Office yesterday issued an amber weather warning for ‘danger to life’ until tonight, as homes in the South East continue to report power outages as a result of the harsh weather.

National Highways have issued their own amber weather warning, matching the Met Office’s upgrade from yellow this morning.

They have told drivers in the North West to take extra care when travelling to avoid wind-blown debris and falling tree branches, particularly those driving high-sided vehicles, caravans, and motorbikes.
