'˜The Prosecutor' named as Chief

Claire Lindley has been appointed as the Chief Crown Prosecutor for the North West, covering Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria.

Claire joins CPS North West from CPS Mersey-Cheshire where she has been the Chief Crown Prosecutor (CCP) since 2012.

She recently featured in the BBC4 series ‘The Prosecutors’, a three-part documentary which went behind the scenes to show the work of the Crown Prosecution teams based in Liverpool.

Claire was born and brought up in the North West and joined the CPS in 1987.She was first appointed as a CCP in Cheshire in 2005.

She said she was “delighted” by the appointment.

She said: “As Chief Crown Prosecutor I will be working hard, with my colleagues and partners in the North West, to make sure that anyone who has been the victim of a crime has the confidence to come forward knowing that we will take their case seriously, prosecute it professionally and fairly and treat them with empathy.”
