Volunteers for military charity Pilgrim Bandits, including John Chart, a London firefighter living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), stopped off at the Alison Arms during their 1,000-mile cycle from John O’ Groats to Land’s End on specially adapted tandem bicycles.

John is pushing himself to complete the challenge, which covers tough terrain across the entire length of the UK, as part of Operation Ride UK from August 10th - 24.

The feat has always been an ambition of John’s, and he has limited time left to complete it due to his illness. Alison Arms regulars rallied round to show their support by collecting approximately £50 for the charity.

Mavis Bury, the pub manager, said: “I think the volunteers’ efforts are absolutely amazing. I felt humbled in their presence and they are an inspiration to all.

“Courageous throughout such adversity.”
