A new mini Morrisons supermarket could soon be opening in a Preston suburb.

The retail giant has applied for planning permission to change the use of 93-97 Conway Drive, Fulwood, from a vet surgery to a Morrisons Daily.

The veterinary practice was granted planning permission on July 14, 1981, for a change of use from a retail store, which included a condition that stated: “that the premises be used solely for the purpose of a veterinary surgery”. This new application seeks to vary the condition to allow for a change of use back to its original retail use.

No alterations to the building are being sought, and it is proposed that the new retail shop would be open from 6am to 11pm daily.

Oakhill Veterinary Centre closed in Conway Drive in March 2023, with staff and patients moving to a state-of-the-art new clinic in Lytham Road. Click here for more on that story.

A decision will be made by Preston City Council in coming weeks.
